Description |
Clarify whether a is the same as a[0:0] when a is a scalar? See thread beginning at http://www.eda.org/vlog-pp/hm/0491.html |
Fix |
In section 4.2.1, CHANGE the last sentence of the first paragraph FROM "The bit-select or part-select of a variable declared as real or realtime shall be considered illegal." TO "A bit-select or part-select of a scalar, or of a variable declared as real or realtime, shall be illegal." (The words "real" and "realtime" should be in keyword font.) |

Original proposal: In section 4.2.1, after the sentence "Bit-selects extract a particular bit from a vector net, vector reg, integer variable, or time variable." ADD "A bit-select or part-select of a scalar shall be illegal." -- From: Shalom Bresticker <Shalom.Bresticker@motorola.com> To: Brad.Pierce@synopsys.com Cc: etf-bugs@boyd.com Subject: Re: errata/261: PROPOSAL - Clarify whether a is the same as a[0:0] when a is a scalar? Date: Mon, 25 Aug 2003 11:47:52 +0300 I agree about adding the sentence, but I would prefer to add it at the END of the paragraph, after a similar sentence saying that bit-/part-selects of real variables are illegal. Date: Fri, 5 Sep 2003 15:10:15 -0700 If this proposal is accepted, then a change will be required in the fix for issue 11, which twice assumes that the scalar "ba" can be referred to by "ba[0]". -- Brad From: Shalom.Bresticker@motorola.com To: Brad Pierce <Brad.Pierce@synopsys.com> Cc: etf-bugs@boyd.com Subject: RE: errata/261: PROPOSAL - Clarify whether a is the same as a[0:0] when a is a scalar?
